UNISON Invites Council Workers to Share Views on Move to Hove Town Hall

With Brighton & Hove council proposing to move staff from Bartholemew House to Hove Town Hall, UNISON launched a survey to understand member’s concerns. Among the issues raised by workers at the council include:

  • The impact of increased commuting time on childcare for parents;

  • How the main reception will work for vulnerable people, or if there would be enough space for confidential discussions with staff and with the public;

  • Whether there will be enough space near colleagues The impact on shared resources, including toilets, parking spaces, and desks;

  • The impact this decision will make on workers and clients north and east of the city, from Kemptown to Saltdean via Whitehawk, areas that are already underserved.

UNISON is aware of concerns around a lack of accessibility in Hove Town Hall, and are keeping records on who has been given reasonable adjustments, and will be making sure these are maintained in the move.

11th February Meeting for staff working at Hove Town Hall

We are also holding a meeting for members already working in Hove Town Hall to hear more about their concerns: 11 February, Noon - 1pm, Room G91. For online access email Hannah.Mclean@brighton-hove.gov.uk
