Council Office Move To Hove Town Hall Raises Accessibility Concerns

The move from Bart’s House to Hove Town Hall has raised concerns among staff and union representatives. UNISON is compiling an audit trail on reasonable adjustments and reviewing accessibility in the new workspace.

Staff report limited direction from senior management. In some cases, large teams must share very few desks, leading to inconsistent, “first come, first served” arrangements rather than needs-based allocation.

The open-plan layout and lack of meeting rooms also make private conversations difficult. Workers say workplaces should meet diverse needs as standard, not rely on ad hoc fixes.

Communication has been poor, with little notice given. The union continues to call for a more transparent and inclusive approach that properly considers accessibility and working conditions
